Dear Families,

Just a little health update and then some words about the Annual Catholic Appeal. As most of you know, I had my stem cell transplant on April 14th and things went better than planned. I spent two weeks in the hospital and came home this past Monday, April 28th. I remain in isolation at home for at least the next two weeks in order to maintain my health by avoiding contact with people who might potentially share viruses, etc. I feel great and am improving each day. We have priests scheduled through the end of May and all things being equal I should be back the first weekend of June.

As we begin our commitment to the Archdiocesan Annual Catholic Appeal, I want to encourage each of you to help support the wonderful work of the larger Church. We are blessed in Western Washington with so many wonderful ministries that help us extend the mission of Christ to those most in need of His healing touch. Whether it is Teens and Young Adults, those who are incarcerated or sick, or people who are homeless or living on the edge, the Archdiocese is there to extend a helping hand. We are the benefi-ciaries of so many ministries done in our name and we help support the work of the Church through this annual appeal. Please take time to reflect upon what you might be able to share and bring your commitment card next weekend. Thank you for your generous response.

Queridas familias,

Les quiero compartir una breve actualización  sobre mi salud y algunas palabras sobre la Campaña        Católica Anual. Como la mayoría de ustedes sabe, me sometí a un trasplante de células madre el 14 de abril y todo salió mejor de lo previsto. Pasé dos semanas en el hospital y regresé a casa el pasado lunes 28 de abril.    Permaneceré en aislamiento en casa durante al menos las próximas dos semanas para mantener mi salud, evitando el contacto con personas que podrían transmitir el virus. Me siento de maravilla y mejoro cada día. Tenemos sacerdotes programados hasta finales de mayo y, en igualdad de condiciones, debería estar de regreso el primer fin de  semana de junio.

Al comenzar nuestro compromiso con la Campaña Católica Anual Arquidiocesana, quiero animarlos a todos a apoyar la maravillosa labor de la Iglesia en general. En el oeste de Washington, tenemos la bendición de contar con tantos ministerios maravillosos que nos ayudan a  extender la misión de Cristo a quienes más necesitan su toque sanador. Ya sean adolescentes y jóvenes adultos, personas encarceladas o enfermas, o personas sin hogar o que viven al límite, la Arquidiócesis está ahí para brindarles una mano amiga. Nos beneficiamos de tantos ministerios que se realizan en nuestro nombre y apoyamos la obra de la Iglesia mediante esta campaña anual. Por favor,  reflexione sobre lo que podría compartir y traiga su tarjeta de compromiso el próximo fin de semana. Gracias por su generosa respuesta.

Chỉ là một chút cập nhật về sức khỏe và sau đó là một số lời về Lời kêu gọi Công giáo hàng năm. Như hầu hết các bạn đã biết, tôi đã ghép tế bào gốc vào ngày 14 tháng 4 và mọi thứ diễn ra tốt hơn dự kiến. Tôi đã nằm viện hai tuần và trở về nhà vào thứ Hai tuần trước, ngày 28 tháng 4. Tôi sẽ tiếp tục cách ly tại nhà trong ít nhất hai tuần tới để duy trì sức khỏe bằng cách tránh tiếp xúc với những người có khả năng lây truyền vi-rút, v.v. Tôi cảm thấy rất tuyệt và đang hồi phục mỗi ngày. Chúng tôi đã lên lịch cho các linh mục đến hết tháng 5 và nếu mọi thứ đều bình đẳng, tôi sẽ trở lại vào cuối tuần đầu tiên của tháng 6.

Khi chúng ta bắt đầu cam kết với Lời kêu gọi Công giáo hàng năm của Tổng giáo phận, tôi muốn khuyến khích mỗi người trong số các bạn hãy giúp đỡ công việc tuyệt vời của Giáo hội lớn hơn. Chúng ta được ban phước ở Tây Washington với rất nhiều mục vụ tuyệt vời giúp chúng ta mở rộng sứ mệnh của Chúa Kitô đến những người cần sự chữa lành của Người nhất. Cho dù đó là thanh thiếu niên và thanh niên, những người bị giam cầm hoặc ốm đau, hay những người vô gia cư hoặc sống trên bờ vực, Tổng giáo phận luôn ở đó để dang rộng vòng tay giúp đỡ.
